The Triumph of God's kingdom

Reflection on Today's Readings, Tuesday of 34th Week in Ordinary Time, Year 1, November 23rd, 2021
Texts: Daniel 2:31-45; Ps. Daniel 3:35-39; Luke 21: 5-11
One thing to learn from today's first reading is the triumph of God's kingdom over human kingdom. The human kingdoms mentioned in the reading are of Gentile world. Gentile kingdoms are kingdoms that do not acknowledge the Almighty God, the God of heaven and earth. They are human kingdoms, for they acknowledge man as god. Every kingdom that worship man will pass away; everyone that put their hope in man shall not stand.
The prophecy is fulfilled now, for the kingdom of God has been inaugurated by Jesus; it is growing and it shall reach its fullness at the end of time. Human kingdom is growing towards decay. Today's gospel reading tells us many things that are tearing the world apart: impersonation of Christ, wars, tumult, epidemic, pandemic, earthquake, sickness and diseases and many terrible things. The manifestation of so many strange things in our time reminds us that the full manifestation of God's kingdom is sure; they are to awaken in us the reality of the manifestation of the kingdom. Let us wait patiently for it because it shall surely come.
The reality of God's kingdom is more noticeable as we experience things never experienced before. COVID 19 and its variants are testimonies that the kingdom of God is at hand more than before. In our time, there is division everywhere, mistrust is plaguing humanity, nation cannot longer hold itself together, citizens rise against their government while government continues to decay and lose people's confidence, to mention but a few anomalies of our time. Faithfulness to God is more urgent than before. Let us be faithful, for this is the right time to do so.

Lord our God, thank You for always awakening the reality of Your kingdom in us; grant us the grace of repentance and final perseverance that we may made worthy of the kingdom. Amen.
