Our Dear Nation, Nigeria

This is a dark moment in the history of our dear Nation, Nigeria. What we did not do right in the past has caught up with us. Our greed blindfolded us and we could not see this approaching. Some are just greedy for power, some for money, some for fame.

We leave our youths idle at the prime of their energy and we expect no revolt. We pushed them and pushed them to the wall and we expect them not to turn back.

We have long alienated ourselves from their plights; we have left them to develop on their own and they have now acquired language we no longer understand and live in different world. Now they are back to demand for their right; they speak and we no longer understand them. We can no longer access their world because we do not understand their language; their language is the key to access their world.

They have learned not to believe in words but we come to them with words. Persuasion and promises are words.  They ask for action but we come with words again. We now recognize that we can no longer act but speak. We have grown used to words that we can no longer act.

When words fail us, we turn to force. When we use force, it adds salt to injury. The darkness upon our nation goes deeper and silence envelopes us.

We witness once again in our generation that change does not come easy; blood has been spilt. Our heroes and heroines are falling and our hearts are bleeding. Silence every where; darkness experienced.

Night never stay forever, the day we long for must come. At the end of dark tunnel there is always light. This moment will be over. It has for us a great lesson for us, lesson not to leave our youths idle. We are to be part of their life and engage them meaningfully.

Our nation, Nigeria, needs prayer. Let us keep praying for our dear Nation, Nigeria.

PRAYER FOR NIGERIA IN DISTRESS

All powerful and merciful Father, You are the God of Justice Love and Peace.  You rule over all the Nations of Earth.  Power and Might are in your hands and no one can withstand you.  We present our country Nigeria before You.  We praise and thank You for You are the source of all we have and are.  We are sorry for all the sins we have committed and for the good deeds we have failed to do.

In Your Loving Forgiveness, keep us save from the punishment we deserve.  Lord we are weighed down, not only by uncertainties, but also by moral, economic and political problems.  Listen to the cries of your people who confidently turn to You.   God of infinite goodness, Our strength in diversity, Our health in weakness, Our comfort in sorrow.  Be merciful to us your people.  Spare this nation Nigeria from chaos, anarchy and doom.  Bless us with Your Kingdom of Justice, Love and Peace.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
